Anyone who has driven a new or used Ford Mustang knows that one of the best parts is the satisfying growl of the engine. This is especially true when it comes to the extra-sporty Ford Mustang GT. But the glorious sound that owners love isn’t so glorious to everyone – just ask former Ford head of vehicle engineering, Steve von Foerster’s, neighbors. After he pulled out of his driveway early one morning, one von Foerster’s neighbors was so disturbed by the sound they called the police. While von Foerster luckily was not issued a ticket, he did end up with a great idea for how to respect his neighbors and keep the peace.

The 2018 Ford Mustang GT will still have the engine roar that drivers love – but will also come with an industry-first Quiet Start system, also known as “Good Neighbor Mode.” While other sports cars do offer an on/off mode for their active exhaust system, the 2018 Ford Mustang GT is the first to allow drivers to schedule quieter times in advance. A few quick changes to the settings when the car is on allows drivers to set quiet hours – say between 8 p.m. and 8 a.m. That means when they head to work in the morning or leave for an evening out, sleepy neighbors, tired children, and anxious dogs won’t have the stress or annoyance of being startled by the sound of an engine.

Here at your San Diego Ford dealership, we know the importance of a peaceful neighborhood. But we also know the rush that comes with hearing your engine roar to life before a drive. So when we welcome the 2018 Ford Mustang to our lot, you can get the muscle car of your dreams without ruining your relationship with your neighbors. Call or visit Kearny Pearson Ford to find out more about why you’ll love the 2018 Ford Mustang.
