Whether you drive a 2019 Ford F-150, one of our used Ford trucks, or an automobile produced by another brand, it can be a challenge to keep your vehicle cool when it’s hot outside. We know firsthand how uncomfortable it can be to get into a car after it’s been parked in the summer sun for a while. With that in mind, we thought it would be a good idea to share some tips to keep your parked vehicle cool even when it’s hot.

One of the most basic things you can do to keep a parked automobile cool is leave its windows open. If you don’t want to leave your windows all the way down, leave them cracked a bit so some fresh are can circulate. You can get more fresh air to circulate by letting a small solar powered fan run in your automobile when it’s parked.

Parking in a shady spot or covered garage or carport is a good idea, too. If you can’t find a shady or covered spot, use a sunshade to prevent the sun’s rays from heating up the air in your car. A sunshade will stop surfaces like your seat from getting too warm to the touch as well. If you don’t want to buy a sunshade, cover your seats and steering wheel with a beach towel to keep them cool.

A lot of people will tell you that driving with your windows down will cool off a previously parked car fast. While that’s true, there’s something you can do to cool a vehicle like a 2019 Ford F-150 down even faster. Open the passenger side window and then swing the driver’s side door open and closed a few times in succession.
